Kiwanis International, the second oldest, and the third largest International Service Organization in the world has today made a donation of money to the Don’t Mess with Drugs Foundation.
Kiwanis is dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time, in an atmosphere of fun and friendship. The organization’s motto is “serving the children of the world”. Kiwanis is found in more than 80 nations and geographic areas and has its headquarters in the United States. Jeff Hudson, the Sydney based President of Kiwanis Club was in the office of the Don’t Mess with Drugs Foundation today to present the cheque. He is aware of DMWD and the work the charity is doing. “I met the Chairman Daniel Prasad at a Bunnings Barbeque and was most impressed by the program he had undertaken. I told my Board who invited Daniel to speak .They too were most impressed and that is why we have offered our support.”
In the absence of Don’t Mess with Drugs Foundation Chairman Daniel Prasad who is currently hospitalised, Community Services Manager Brent Plimpton received the cheque on behalf of the organization. “It is most encouraging that our fledging organization is being noticed and now supported in the marketplace.” This encourages us to keep trying to get our name out there “. We need the support of organizations like Kiwanis to be able to offer the education program to up and coming athletes.”
Kiwanis provides funding for project initiatives and programs focused on improving community health and well-being which fits perfectly with the ethos of DMWD.
“Young children is our focus, we do a lot with the community as a whole. 50% of our work is with young children. We have room to support this program with older children. We want to help DMWD where we can.”
The global organization is more than 600,000 member’s strong world-wide so its support of a fledging organization is much appreciated. “Like I said previously, this is a good endorsement for what we are doing. Being noticed by Kiwanis is most encouraging, and hopefully, other organizations will follow their lead and support us” added Brent Plimpton. Now that the initial relationship has been formed, it is anticipated that it will continue to build with Kiwanis keen to further assist the Don’t Mess with Drugs Foundation as it continues to grow. Jeff Hudson was very clear . “We have already decided as an organization to continue to support DMWD ongoing. We totally believe in what they are doing and we are most impressed by the quick progress they have made in such a short time of existence. We are keen to work with DMWD in their community programs and will support their education program of young sportsmen and women any way we can.”
Brent Plimpton concluded the meeting suggesting that “DMWD can assist Kiwanis by inviting them to our events and having them involved where relevant. ”We feel we can assist them with networking opportunities for example.” Both DMWD and Kiwanis will meet again soon to discuss conducting networking events with local sporting groups and teams in the Sydney metropolitan area.
